She taught Sunday School for 25 years, played piano, sang in the church choir and was a youth counselor. She conducted scrap metal and paper drives and started a second-hand store to support the Youth Fellowship. In later years, Martha was a substitute teacher at Elizabeth Forward High School and eventually a i i a a accomplished pianist, enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She was proud that she inal ly stopped smoking on her 60th birthday. In retirement, Martha enjoyed traveling with her husband to Alaska and Europe, numerous cruises with family and fr iends, and a tour to China where she walked on the Great Wall.
At age 76, she was an extra in two movies filmed in Pittsburgh. In 1994, Martha moved to Thousand Oaks CA. She jo ined and a i a Westlake United Methodist Church. In 2005, she moved i i a i eme i enc i Thousand Oaks and enjoyed play ing br idge, poker and bingo. She was loved by all because her indness positive attitude and infectious smile.

His passion and proficiency in billiards grew over the years qualifying him for the American Poolplayers Association "9-Ball National Championship Tournament" in Las Vegas, NV, in 2013.
He continued to enjoy playing with his colleagues and family at the Scottsdale Via Linda Senior Center until a week before his passing. Michael, Steven, and Christopher were her avenues to express love as a doting aunt. They, in turn, gave her a i a cherished. Her sister was her best friend throughout her life and she was cared for by Barbara during her last weeks of life. In Williamsburg, the Burke family was her rock for many years and loved her as their own. She was a devoted friend and family member to those she loved including her best friend, Joyce.
Diane loved i a upbringing. She loved her birth place Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Steelers, the streets and neighborhoods where she played as a child and went to school, and her family history. She loved animals, children, her friends, freedom, and her garden. Although she went to a i a a Un ive rs i and became a teacher of young children, she never lost her affection for Pittsburgh. Her 40 years as an a a oppor tun i ty to rave the world.
She taught in FL, GA, CO, and spent 20 odd years in Asia and Europe teaching children of military service members as a Department of Defense Dependent Schools educator. Finally she taught in Newport News Public Schools and retired in 2008. She lived in James City County for over 20 years and made many friends here. Those who loved her will miss her deeply. She died on June 14, 2016, after a two-year battle with small cell a A i a memorial service will be held in her home in July.
