6/12/2024 – After six rounds the two Nodirbeks share the lead at the UzChess Masters in Tashkent, Uzbekistan: With 4.0/6 Nodirbek Yakubboev and Nodirbek Abdusattorov are half a point ahead of Javokhir Sindarov who is third with 3.5/4. All three are Grandmasters and all three are from Uzbekistan. The UzChess Masters is a strong 10-player round robin, in which all players have an Elo rating of 2600+ while eight of the participants have a rating of 2700+. Round 7 starts on Wednesday at 12.00 CEST (6.00 ET).

6/3/2024 – The World Championship Match 2024, in which the reigning champion Ding Liren (China) and the youngest challenger in chess history, Gukesh D (India), will fight for the title, is provisionally scheduled between November 20 and December 15, 2024. After opening the bidding procedure to host the event, FIDE received three applications that met all the criteria. These bids came from New Delhi (India), Chennai (India) and Singapore, vying to host the FIDE World Chess Championship 2024. In an interview, Sagar Shah of ChessBase India discussed these developments with FIDE CEO Emil Sutovsky.

The Exchange Variation (1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.exd5 cxd5 4.Bd3) is a simple and easy to learn answer to the Caro-Kann.
